Soothing Calendula Body Balm is a wonderfully fragrant skin moisturizer. The smooth creamy texture is deeply hydrating and will help to nourish your skin, leaving it feeling suppler, softer and more rejuvenated.

How To Use:

Our calendula body balm is formulated to be very gentle and is suitable for even the most sensitive skin.

• Ideal for soothing and moisturising dry, cracked or damaged skin
• Helps to calm sore, swollen or irritated skin and reduce inflammation
• Can be used for tattoo after care treatment

Simply rub into any external part of the skin where you feel it would be most beneficial and as with any new product, always apply a small amount before use just to ensure no allergic reactions.

So What’s In It?

Calendula Flower Extract: Calendula flowers contain a number of active compounds which are traditionally believed to promote healthy skin and support the healing process. Calendula is especially popular for its ability to help repair and quickly soothe, dry, irritated or sensitive skin.

Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil: Known to the ancients as ‘Liquid gold’ and widely understood to be one of the world’s most healthy oils, extra virgin olive oil is the highest quality available.  Rich in skin nourishing fatty acids, Vitamin E and antioxidants, olive oil is associated with numerous health benefits. It is deeply penetrating and acts to moisturise, nourish and condition the skin, helping it to stay supple and healthy.

Locally Sourced Pure Sussex Beeswax: Used since antiquity and renowned for its restorative properties, beeswax forms a protective-‘breathable’ barrier for the skin. This barrier helps to moisturise the skin and also provides an effective defence against incoming environmental nasties. Naturally anti-bacterial, beeswax also helps to reduce redness and irritation caused as a result of shaving. Our beeswax is sourced locally from within the Sussex South Downs National Park with abundant access to native wild flowers.

Organic Shea Butter:  A Superfood for the skin if ever there was one. Shea butter has traditionally been used to  revitalize and re energize tired skin or flagging hair. Shea butter is jam packed with natural vitamins and fatty acids. These compounds help to nourish and moisturize the skin and also aid the skin’s natural collagen production. This is why Shea butter is so widely regarded for its skin toning and anti wrinkle properties. 

Tocopherol: This is a naturally occurring form of Vitamin E which is derived from vegetable oil and is included to help preserve the shelf life of this product, without resorting to nasty synthetics or chemicals. Tocopherol is moisturisng and acts as  a very effective antioxidant, helping to restore and rejuvenate all skin types.

The Hows & Whys

We employ a double infusion process to make all of our salves. This means we infuse the oil once in our lovely herbs, before straining and re-infusing the oil again with fresh herbs. The end result of all this infusing is to create a really potent brew! Many salve makers will only infuse their oil once, but using this double infusion method our customers are effectively getting twice the benefit.

It’s the flower heads themselves where the majick comes from, they are packed full of active ingredients such as essential oils, xanthophylls saponins and caretonoids; The Calendula flower extracts then combine beautifully with the other ingredients to create a restoring protective screen and produce what we think, is a wonderfully textured salve that you’ll  just love to use.

Organic extra virgin olive oil (Olea europaea), doubley infused with organic Calendula flowers (Calendula officinalis), organic Beeswax (Cera alba) and organic shea butter (Butyrosopermum parkii), Tocopherol  (Vitamin E). Thats it.
