There is good reason why we called it ‘Wonder Balm’: This versatile little salve makes a wonderful moisturizer in its own right; but is packed with the botanical vitality, of seven of our favourite herbs and essential oils. Botanicals which are traditionally regarded for their restorative and nurturing properties of the skin.
How To Use:
Wonder Balm uses herbal ingredients which are exclusively based upon long standing use within traditional remedies and is ideal for soothing and moisturising dry, cracked or damaged skin as well as helping to relieve the symptoms associated with sore, swollen or irritated skin, minor grazes, cuts, scrape bites or stings.
Simply rub into any external part of the skin where you feel it would be most beneficial and as with any new product, always apply a small amount before use just to ensure no allergic reactions. Probably best not to use on children under 5 years of age.
So What’s In It?
Calendula Flower Extract: Calendula flowers contain a number of active compounds which are traditionally believed to promote healthy skin and support the healing process. Calendula has anti bacterial properites and is especially popular for its ability to help repair and quickly soothe, dry, irritated or sensitive skin.
Comfrey Leaf Extract:Comfrey has been a staple of herbal medicine for over over 2000 years. Comfrey’s common folk names of “Boneset” “Knitbone” and “Bruisewort” gives us ample clue as to the herb’s percieved value when applied externally. Comfrey has been traditionally employed to treat injuries such as sprains, bruises and broken bones.
Plantain Leaf Extract: Condemmed as an intrusive weed by zealous gardeners everywhere, the humble herb plantain is a veritible treasure trove of botanical goodness. Plantain is widely understood to demonstrate analgesic or pain reliving properties. Rubbing plantain leaves into your skin is a great way to gain relief from simple grazes, stings, bites burns or scalds.
Yarrow Flower Extract: Yarrow is another very common plant relegated to weed status by those who don’t know any better. Yarrow has powerful astringent qualities – meaning it acts to tighten or contract skin tissue, this makes it very useful in helping to constrict blood flow in the local area flow and also to support the skin’s natural healing process.
Peppermint Oil: Intensely minty (surprise) pleasant aroma, peppermint contains menthol which creates that refreshing cooling, soothing sensation on the skin
Lavender Oil: Lavender helps to soften and condition the skin and also has antiseptic, anti bacterial and anti fungal properties.
Tea Tree Oil: An integral part of indiginous Australian heritage, the properties of the Tea Tree have been known in Europe since the 18th C. The chemicals in tea tree oil may kill bacteria and fungus, and reduce allergic skin reactions.
Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil: Known to the ancients as ‘Liquid gold’ and widely understood to be one of the world’s most healthy oils, extra virgin olive oil is the highest quality available. Rich in skin nourishing fatty acids, Vitamin E and antioxidants, olive oil is associated with numerous health benefits. It is deeply penetrating and acts to moisturise, nourish and condition the skin, helping it to stay supple and healthy.
Organic Beeswax: Used since antiquity and renowned for its restorative properties, beeswax forms a protective-‘breathable’ barrier for the skin. This barrier helps to moisturise the skin and also provides an effective defence against incoming environmental nasties. Naturally anti-bacterial, beeswax also helps to reduce inflammation and supports the healing process. Our beeswax comes from certified organic hives. This is because the bees are only in flying range of organic pesticide free crops and natural wild flowers.
Organic Shea Butter: A Superfood for the skin if ever there was one. Shea butter has traditionally been used to revitalize and re energize tired skin or flagging hair. Shea butter is jam packed with natural vitamins and fatty acids. These compounds help to nourish and moisturize the skin and also aid the skin’s natural collagen production. This is why Shea butter is so widely regarded for its skin toning and anti wrinkle properties.
Rosemary Oleoresin (R.O.E): This is a naturally occurring resin derived from the Rosemary plant, its powerful, concentrated antioxidant properties delays the oxidation of fatty oils and is included to help preserve the shelf life of this product, without resorting to nasty synthetics or chemicals. In addition to being a valued antioxidant, rosemary extract has antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties.
Olea europaea(olive) fruit oil doubley infused with organic Calendula officinalis (calendula) flower, Achillea millefolium (Yarrow)flower Plantago major(plantain) leaf, Symphytum officinale (comfrey) leaf powder, Cera alba ( organic beeswax) and Butyrospermum parkii (shea) butter , Helianthus annuus seed oil, Rosmarinus officinalis leaf extract (R.O.E).
