Relaxing Lavender Body Balm is a wonderfully fragrant skin moisturizer and its smooth creamy texture will help to nourish your skin, leaving it feeling suppler, softer and more rejuvenated.  Enhanced with Roman Chamomile essential oil to further support the sense of restful calm, this balm’s ingredients combine holistically to create really a special product.

Lavender is such a beneficial herb and has been used for thousands of years as a tonic for the soul. Lavender is mood lifting, aids relaxation. and promotes inner tranquility, even when chaos is reigning all about you!

How to Use:

This balm really is versatile and can be applied in a number of ways. To aid relaxation and sleep we recommend applying to the pulse points in your hands, wrists, neck, & temples, then breathing in slowly and deeply to really take advantage of those comforting aromas. This balm is also very soothing and can be applied to any external part of the skin which  is in need of a little bit of TLC; it will help to calm sore or irritated skin and reduce inflammation.

So What’s In It?

Lavender (Lavandula augustifolia) Flower Extract & Essential Oil: There is so much more to Lavender than a nice smelly flower! Profoundly relaxing, with calming and uplifting effects. There are few if any natural herbs that are as conducive to a restful night’s sleep as Lavender. Lavender is known as a mood enhancer and has traditionally been associated with helping to relieve feelings of gloom, anxiety, tension, stress and associated headaches. Another beneficial effect attributed to Lavender is the herb’s powerful anti-bacterial  properties. These have been shown through research to be effective at soothing irritated skin or helping reduce inflammation. Some people have found that applying lavender salve to sunburn, insect bites or rashes for example has had beneficial effects.

Roman Chamomile (Romanis nobilis) Essential Oil:The perfect compliment to Lavender. With its warm fruity aroma, Roman Chamomile is a gentle herb renowned for the deep calming effect, both mental and emotional that it has upon the individual, the herb is often used as an aid to promoting restful sleep. Less well known is Roman Chamomile’s anti inflammatory properties which further enhance the soothing effect that this balm has when applied to the skin.

Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil: Known to the ancients as ‘Liquid gold’ and widely understood to be one of the world’s most healthy oils, extra virgin olive oil is the highest quality available.  Rich in skin nourishing fatty acids, Vitamin E and antioxidants, olive oil is associated with numerous health benefits. It is deeply penetrating and acts to moisturise, nourish and condition the skin, helping it to stay supple and healthy.

Locally Sourced Pure Sussex Beeswax: Used since antiquity and renowned for its restorative properties, beeswax forms a protective-‘breathable’ barrier for the skin. This barrier helps to moisturise the skin and also provides an effective defence against incoming environmental nasties. Naturally anti-bacterial, beeswax also helps to reduce redness and irritation caused as a result of shaving. Our beeswax is sourced locally from within the Sussex South Downs National Park with abundant access to native wild flowers.

Organic Shea Butter:  A Superfood for the skin if ever there was one. Shea butter has traditionally been used to  revitalize and re energize tired skin or flagging hair. Shea butter is packed full of natural vitamins and fatty acids. These compounds help to nourish and moisturize the skin and also aid the skin’s natural collagen production. This is why Shea butter is so widely regarded for its skin toning and anti wrinkle properties. 

Tocopherol: This is a naturally occurring form of Vitamin E which is derived from vegetable oil and is included to help preserve the shelf life of this product, without resorting to nasty synthetics or chemicals. Tocopherol is moisturisng and acts as  a very effective antioxidant, helping to restore and rejuvenate all skin types.

The Hows and Whys

We make our salve by infusing dried organic Lavender flowers in organic olive oil to extract the active essences and lock it into the oil; then we repeat the process and soak even more flowers into the already infused oil in order to create a really potent infusion. Most other salve makers will only infuse their oil once, but using this double infusion method our customers are effectively getting twice the product! and we believe they will really see the difference.

Ingredients: Organic extra virgin olive oil (Olea europaea), doubley infused with organic Lavender flowers (Lavandula augustifolia), Organic shea Butter, Organic Beeswax, Tocopherol (vitamin E) . Roman chamomile ( Romanis nobilis) essential oil 2% Organic Lavender essential oil 2% That’s it.

Precautions:

While chamomile essential oil is generally very safe to used by people of all ages, Chamomile is an emmenogogue so is not recommended for women who are in the early stages of pregnancy.

It is also recommended that those with strong allergies to plants like ragweed do a spot check on a small patch of skin before applying to the whole body. This is because chamomile can, on occasion, cause allergic reactions.

We have taken great care to ensure that all the ingredients we use in this product are entirely safe to use and are extremely unlikely to cause any  adverse reactions. As with any new cosmetic product though, always apply a small amount to the skin before use. If you are unsure – we can always send you  a sample  for the price of postage and packing. Please also avoid contact to the eyes and do not ingest, this product is to be used  externally on the skin only.
