Taking the beautiful backdrop of the Sussex Downs as my inspiration, it is but a short journey of revelation before you come to realise how much more healing energy & rejuvenating power can be found in the humblest wild plant growing in your own neighborhood, than there is to be found in any chemical pill, petroleum laced cosmetic or synthetic mimicry of the natural.

Humans evolved to be in harmony with our environment, we knew which plants and flowers could help us with our ailments and improve our well being. In return we respected our environment, took only what we needed and lived in harmony.

That was then.

I started Helping Herb, to help me, literally wake up from the hypnotic grip of our consumer culture and to begin my own journey of re-discovery, to learn about and share with others traditional knowledge of herbal remedy making and to use plants, herbs and other natural ingredients wisely for health, hearth and happiness.

Every day I learn something new about the amazing way that plants interact with us on all levels and I am saddened that so much has already been forgotten;  I am fortunate then to have been guided on this  journey by some very wise women, who still understand something of the ‘old craft’. This experience, combined with my own re-training in herbal medicine gives me hope that there is still time to preserve and pass down this precious knowledge.

With this in mind, I love nothing better than hand making small batches of salves, balms and other herbal goodies for my friends, family and valued customers, from the plants I grow in my garden, gather in the field or source responsibly from trusted suppliers.

I really hope you find Helping Herb beneficial and enjoy using my products as much as I enjoy making them.

My Philosophy for Helping Herb:

  • To always use organic, natural and responsibly sourced ingredients, free from chemicals  preservatives and other ghastly things.
  • Everything is hand made with care in small batches to ensure the best quality.
  • Use the minimal amount of packaging  as possible, avoid plastic at all costs.
  • Never to use any ingredient that has been tested on animals.
  • Always be grateful for what nature and life provides.
